Persib Football Club began life when Bandoeng Inlandsche Voetball Bond (BIVB) formed as a football team in 1923. This club was a national organization. The first club chief was Mr. Syamsudin and then replaced by Mr. R. Atot, the son of Indonesian heroin, Dewi Sartika.

The club played in the field of Tegalega, in front of the horse race arena. Some friendly games was played there with another city club likes from Yogyakarta and Jakarta. With unknown reason, the club disappeared and then two new city clubs arisen. It was Persatuan Sepakbola Indonesia Bandung (PSIB) and National Voetball Bond (NVB).

On March, 14th 1933, two clubs fused and they made a new club name PERSIB. The first chief was Mr. Anwar Pamoentjak. So, another clubs like SIAP, Soenda, Singgalang, Diana, Matahari, OVU, RAN, HBOM, JOP, MALTA, and Merapi, joined the club.

In that time, there was also the Dutch clubs, Voetbal Bond Bandung & Omstreken (VBBO). This club used to play in the central city fields, fields of UNI and SIDOLIG. The Bandung people preferred watching this club then watching Persib, because played in the city and they thought it was more prestige. The cold war between two clubs was ended, when the VBBO joined Persib Bandung.

In the Japanese era, all of Indonesian organization must be stopped included Persib Bandung. The Japanese government made another sport organization like Rengo Tai Iku Kai. Although the name of Persib changed, but, the clubs mission as a nationalist club did never change.

After liberation, the club started to exist again. In 1948, the club reformed by Dr. Musa, H. Alexa, Rd. Sugeng, Munadi as a chief. This reformation was made to avoid NICA that would reform VBBO again. This made Persib has been only club in Bandung with the spirit of nationalism.

In 1953-1957, Persib based in Cilentah, and then moved to Gurame Street until now.
